Cold Room Not Holding Temperature? Causes and What To Do
Cold room running but not holding temperature? Here are the most common causes and what to do before it turns into a major failure.
Why Your Cold Room Isn’t Holding Temperature
If your cold room is not holding temperature, the issue usually starts small but escalates quickly. In commercial environments, delays lead to stock loss, compliance risk, and unplanned downtime.
One of the most common causes is a refrigerant leak. The system may still run, but without the correct gas levels it won’t maintain temperature and will eventually fail. You may notice the unit running constantly or ice forming on coils.
Airflow issues are another frequent problem. Faulty evaporator or condenser fans reduce the system’s ability to remove heat, leading to uneven temperatures and warm spots.
Door seals and panel integrity also play a role. Damaged seals allow cold air to escape, forcing the system to work harder and reducing efficiency.
Control faults can cause incorrect cycling. If sensors or controllers are not reading accurately, the system may not respond correctly to temperature changes.
Finally, compressor issues reduce overall cooling capacity. If left unresolved, this can lead to complete system failure.
Most of these issues are repairable if caught early. Left too long, they often result in major component failure or full system replacement.
ACRO specialises in commercial refrigeration breakdowns. We diagnose faults properly and carry the parts needed to fix most issues on the first visit.
If your cold room is not holding temperature, it’s better to act early before the problem escalates.
